Meet the band
The Keepsakes came together in the summer of 2005 when Leon Umberger on accordion and Greg Matysek on drums formed a duo to play for area senior centers and community organizations. Before long, their popular sound caught on, and the duo expanded into a trio with the addition of Leigh Mangubat on trumpet.
The Keepsakes have played at many dinner-dances, patio parties, sock hops, crab feast and festivals. They are regularly featured at the Polish Home Club in Baltimore on Saturday nights and they have also played for the annual Polish Festival in Baltimore.
Our song list features music that makes people want to dance. The Keepsakes play rhumbas, tangoes, cha-chas, sambas, walzes, obereks, country, swing, 50s and - of course - our favorite Polish-style polkas.
